Lacoste
Lacoste was founded in the 1930's by tennis champ, René Lacoste, who won three French Opens, two Wimbledon plums and two US Open titles. René was nicknamed "the Alligator" by the media, whom said that he “never let go of his prey” and from which the 'little green alligator' brand was borne.
Through trend and sporting tradition, Lacoste grew to become a popular sportswear brand for its comfortable, breathable tennis shirts, designed by René himself to replace the previously starched long-sleeved tennis shirts worn by players in those years.
In the 1950s, it was the hottest brand for preppies. In the 1990s, the shirts went mass market but now after many years of hard work the brand has reclaimed its status as a lifestyle brand of clothing and footwear for the fashion set, combining bold-colors with stylish cuts, in a variety of fabrics.
